Dr. Sgambati is a native of northern New Jersey. She attained her undergraduate degree from Brown University and is a graduate of New York Medical College, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. She completed her general surgery training at the University of Connecticut. During residency, she performed 3 years of cell biology research at Yale University. Dr. Sgambati completed fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Sgambati has been practicing at Rose Medical Center since 1999 and she has been the Chair of their Department of Surgery since 2007. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the
University of Colorado. She is also a Patient Safety and Risk Management Consultant for COPIC Insurance Company.
She treats all diseases of the colon and rectum, including colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, constipation, and inflammatory bowel disease. She treats all aspects of anal disease including hemorrhoids, fistulas, fissures, and anal cancer. She has a special interest in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders including rectal prolapse and fecal incontinence. She is the Medical Director of the Colorado Comprehensive Pelvic Floor Center./p>
Dr. Sgambati is married and the mother of 2 children. She enjoys her family, swimming and travel.
