Dr. Sakamoto grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He attended the University of Pennsylvania for his undergraduate degree and Rush Medical College for medical school. He attended Columbus Hospital for his general surgery residency and Ferguson Hospital for his colon and rectal surgery fellowship. He has been in colon and rectal surgery practice since 1990. His main interests are treating colon and rectal cancer and hemorrhoids. He also very much enjoys doing colonoscopies. Lately, laparoscopic colon surgery has become an interest of his. He has served on many committees at Porter Adventist Hospital and was the Chairman of Surgery there. He has been named on 5280’s best doctor’s list 4 times.
