MEET Dr. Gowing
Dr. Jessica Gowing is a Colon and Rectal Surgeon at the SurgOne Rose Medical Center Campus. She specializes in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of cancers in the colon and rectum, inflammatory bowel disease including, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, diverticulitis, intestinal blockages, strictures, and colostomy related issues.
As one of only a few female colorectal surgeons in the region she is sought after for her expertise and care.

ARE YOU DUE FOR A COLONOSCOPY?
Screening colonoscopies are the recommended for men and women every 10 years, starting at age 45 if they a have no risk factors for colon cancer. Colonoscopies are the most effective way to find colon and rectal cancer early. When found early, cancerous polyps can often be removed endoscopically.

Jessica Gowing, MD is a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon and board certified general surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Gowing’s goal and passion is to provide her patients with top quality care while building a relationship of trust and comfort.
Dr. Gowing completed her colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. Prior to that, Dr. Gowing completed general surgery residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She attended the University of Washington in Seattle for both medical school and her undergraduate education where she graduated with honors in neurobiology and bioethics as well as studying Japanese. Before returning to UW for medical school, she worked at a global health research institute in Seattle, focusing on research, education, and training. Additionally, she lived in Japan for a year to immerse herself in Japanese culture, practice the language, and teach English to children.
Born in Virginia, her father was a Navy pilot, which led to traveling through the United States until she moved to Washington where her family still is today. Growing up, her family embarked on their annual summer trips back to Minnesota to spend time with her large extended family. Today, with her husband and three children, Dr. Gowing still enjoys family trips in her time off and maintains close ties with family across the US. Now in Denver, Dr. Gowing has found the perfect place to pursue her love of medicine, family, food, and all the wonders of the Colorado outdoors.
