Dr. Thompson is a Colorado native who grew up in Littleton and attended Littleton High School. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, before returning to Colorado to teach for a year at Valor Christian High School. Her passion for medicine led her back to Texas, where she completed medical school at the University of North Texas followed by residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Baylor University Medical Center.
Board-certified in General Surgery, Dr. Thompson specializes in trauma and critical care surgery. She provides a full range of general surgical services at AdventHealth Porter Hospital and AdventHealth Littleton Hospital, with an office at AdventHealth West Littleton. She has advanced training in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, trauma and emergency surgery, with expertise in hernia repair, gallbladder and appendectomy surgery, thyroid and endocrine surgery, and both small and large bowel procedures.
Dr. Thompson was inspired to pursue medicine by her grandfather, a family physician, and discovered her love of surgery during her clinical rotations. She values the opportunity to care for patients in both routine and critical situations, finding purpose in helping people during their most vulnerable times.
She is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to the residents of Colorado. Her patient philosophy is simple: treat every patient like family. She takes pride in being a good listener, educating her patients thoroughly, and creating a welcoming, comfortable environment where people feel confident in their care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Thompson enjoys medical mission work and has traveled to Peru, El Salvador, the Philippines, and Mexico to provide care for those areas where patients are underserved. She also speaks conversational Spanish. At home, she loves spending time with her husband, Luke, and their daughter, Brooklyn. An avid traveler and outdoors enthusiast, she enjoys skiing, hiking, running, and cheering on Baylor University athletics. She also has a passion for music and plays both guitar and piano.
